Inflation has been the rising globally and has been hurting the common man on many fronts and the companies globally as well. Automakers such as Ford and Tesla are feeling the pinch and they have been taking corrective actions themselves. In this blog I will talk about Ford hiking its 2023 F150 Lightning EV prices.
For the past 6 months, petrol powered vehicle owners have been contemplating whether to take the leap and get an electric vehicle. Most of this was primarily triggered by the rising gas prices. But the grass in definitely not green on the other side. Tesla has been raising its prices as the demand has been surging. Model X does not even have a price tag in the UAE yet with delays in deliveries hurting the popular EV automaker. I myself ordered one in the first quarter 2022 and yet to receive a delivery date despite multiple emails and calls.
Other automakers are also trying to cash in by raising its EV prices in general as many petrol powered vehicle owners consider switching to EV’s amidst rising oil prices.
Another leading EV automaker, Ford announced a massive $7K hike in the 2023 Ford F-150 Lightning EV truck. Ford claims to have increased the range from an estimated 230 miles to 240 miles. The 2023 F-150 Lightning Pro EV truck now comes with a standard 98-kwh battery pack, with an increased EPA of 240 miles while the price of the truck went up from $39,974 to $46,974, excluding destination fees.
Here is a quote from Ford below:
“Due to significant material cost increases and other factors, Ford has adjusted MSRP starting with the opening of the next wave of F-150 Lightning orders,”

About the Ford F150 Lightning EV truck
Right we all know about the Ford F150, personally one of my favorites. I used to own one too and was the best vehicle I’ve ever had. It’s one of the best-selling trucks and in my opinion the best lightweight truck ever made. It has been popular for the last 45 years.
Well guess what, it just turned all electric and its beautifully done with all the power you can imagine. If EV owners can over the anxiety of charging it on long drive, this is one of the best options out there for truck lovers.
The Lightning truck has the same muscular body shape but instead of the gasoline-powered V-6 and V-8 engine options, its swapped for a pair all electric motors, all-wheel drive and with different battery options.
Performance, Battery and Charging for the Ford F150 EV truck
The Standard-Range battery is the smaller 98.0-kWh battery and has a EPA range of 230 miles per charge with a 452 horsepower.
The Extended-Range juice pack is the larger 131.0-kWh pack and it offers a EPA range of 320 miles per charge with a 580 horsepower.
All F-150 Lightning models come standard with two electric motors and all-wheel drive. With the Standard-Range battery, the motors combine to make 452 horsepower but with the Extended-Range battery the horsepower rating rises to 580; peak torque is an impressive 775 pound-feet with either setup. Performance is brisk for a truck this heavy. The Lightning Platinum we tested reached 60 mph in 4.0 seconds and covered a quarter-mile in 12.7 seconds at 107 mph. Not only were we pleased with the Lightning’s, ahem, lightning-quick acceleration but we were also pleasantly surprised that it managed to maintain the normal F-150’s refined road manners. If anything, the Lightning’s handling is slightly more agreeable, thanks to a lower center of gravity that helps keep body roll in check.
Interior, Comfort, and Cargo
Just like the truck’s exterior, the F-150 Lightning EV truck’s interior is the same as the gasoline-powered F-150. It comes with a large 12.0- inch touchscreen infotainment system that is standard but with higher models, Lariat and above, the display is a monstrous 15.0-inch display.
