Go be your own boss! We have all heard that calling. But one aspect no one speaks about is the mental health of being an entrepreneur or an owner of a successful business. There is no down that stress in part of their daily lives. Let’s face it, you have to run your own company, design your own destiny and to make matters out of proportion, you have your own employees destinies as well.
So there is no doubt why mental health plays a significant role for business owners.
Why Is Psychological Well-being so important?
Most business owners focus on having a great physique or working out during their week as science has proven time and time again that physical fitness is crucial. But no one talks about mental health for business owners. Infact, research has proven that it’s equally important.
Entrepreneurs need to make good, rational business decisions every minute and it’s quite important to be mentally stable. But they go hand in hand.
Exercise & Training improves mental health
The first one is the widely agreed way of relieving stress, i.e. regularly exercise. Exercise atleast 2- minutes a day as it leads to a boost in endorphins, commonly known as ‘feel good’ neurotransmitters.
So step away from your PC or laptop everyday for a few minutes and do some workouts. You will see a massive impact within days.
Work-Life Balance contributes to mental health
This one is a no brainer really. Especially with the onset of the global pandemic, business owners are often working round the clock on their computers without setting aside time for their private lives. whether you are working physically in office or at home, make sure you have enough time set for your personal life. Spend time with your family, friends and do your personal errands if you have to without pushing it to the next day.
Meet nature – Simple yet effective
Research has proven that when one explores new areas, especially away from your city life, stress levels drop significantly. Now we all know that it’s easier said than done. Where do we have the time to find and spend time?
It doesn’t have to be traveling outside, (although that would be ideal). You could just go to the nearest beach, mountains, wadis or rivers and explore during weekends. As a business owner, you could even plan a day trip with your employees boosting their mental health as well. Going to a park even or taking a troll by the community also works. An extra benefit, this doubles up as your exercise for the day as well making it a win-win.
Mental health – Bottom line
Take the time out of your busy schedules for 10 minutes a day and give importance to your mental health and physical health equally.
